Why Marmalade Drama?
With over 5 years of teaching drama to children, we at Marmalade believe passionately that one of the greatest gifts in life is to be able to explore yourself and the world through stories and that drama is essential for a child’s human development. In the early years, drama improves understanding of language, communication and broadens imagination. It encourages children to collaborate and to be sensitive to the needs of a group. We at Marmalade provide a stimulating environment where children are given the opportunity to become creative, well rounded, kind and sociable individuals. We recognise that each child is unique and strive to build each child’s confidence and positive self-esteem, helping them to progress successfully through their school years and beyond.
Each of our classes are designed and tailored to suit the particular developing needs of the specific age group. In the younger years; classes consist of games, role-play, dressing up, story telling and improvisation. From the age of 11, our students start to work on acting skills, exploring texts as well as devising, singing, dancing and showcases. We aim to perform several shows a year and will have an end of year awards ceremony.
5 reasons why drama is important:
- Increases confidence.
- Increases empathy and allows you to see things from different points of view.
- Provides a space where you learn to be bold, take risks and try ideas out. We passionately believe that your child should not fear being wrong but embrace trying ideas instead.
- Promotes discovery and curiosity.
- Encourages you to use intuition.
